Taronga Zoo Sydney Wedding: Jordan & Dan’s Fun, Emo-Inspired Celebration
Jordan and Dan first connected on Tinder back in 2019, and what started with a coffee date quickly grew into dinners, shared travel dreams, and long chats about music and tattoos. Their connection felt natural and easy from the very beginning.
Years later, on the shores of Mystery Island in Vanuatu, Dan proposed during a cruise with friends. The ring had been waiting in his pocket for a year and the moment was everything they had hoped for: simple, heartfelt, and unforgettable.
For their wedding, the choice of venue couldn’t have been more perfect. A Taronga Zoo Sydney Wedding meant celebrating surrounded by animals, nature, and those incredible harbour views. Beyond the beauty, the zoo’s strong sustainability values resonated deeply with the couple, aligning perfectly with Jordan’s own work and passions. It wasn’t just a venue, it was a reflection of who they are together.
The day itself was a blend of heartfelt moments and pure fun. Jordan’s walk down the aisle had Dan grinning from ear to ear, and later, the dance floor turned into an emo throwback party, complete with confused guests and unapologetic singalongs. It was the kind of wedding that felt true to them, balancing joy, humour, and all the meaningful details.
Their advice to couples planning? Start early but don’t stress when plans change close to the day. Staying flexible takes the pressure off and leaves room for the moments that matter most.
Jordan and Dan’s Taronga Zoo Sydney Wedding was living proof that when you focus on what feels right for you, the result is a day that’s as unique as your story.
Tell me about your The Beginning!
We met on Tinder in August 2019! Dan messaged first but Jordan didn’t reply for a month. We met up for coffee as a first date which was swiftly followed by a dinner date 3 days later and another date 3 days after that. We bonded over music, travelling and tattoos.
When and where did you get engaged?
In January 2024 we went on a cruise with some friends to the South Pacific and Dan proposed on a beach on Mystery Island, Vanuatu. We had bought the ring a year earlier on another cruise (they have jewellers onboard!) so Jordan was eagerly waiting.
Why did you choose to having a Taronga Zoo Sydney Wedding?
We both love nature and animals and were looking for something close to Sydney that aligned to our values. We chose Taronga Zoo as a natural fit, and it’s also a plus that they operate really sustainably (which is Jordan’s line of work).
What are you most looking forward to on the day?
Seeing Dan’s reaction to my dress! Plus jamming to some emo bangers on the dance floor while 75% of the guests look confused.
Top Tips!
Start planning early but be prepared for plans to change close to the date – it helps be less overwhelming in the months leading up to the event and makes you more easily adaptable to any slight changes.
