Vintage Vibes & Big Love: Lovely & Christian’s Kittyhawk Wedding In Sydney
Lovely & Christian’s Kittyhawk wedding was the perfect mix of warmth, laughter, and low-key charm. Nestled in the heart of Sydney, Kittyhawk is a French-inspired bar and dining space with serious atmosphere. They held their celebration in the Officers’ Mess, an upstairs space designed specifically for weddings and private events. Think moody lighting, luxe textures, and a unique aesthetic inspired by the 1944 Liberation of Paris—old-world charm meets modern sophistication.
These two first crossed paths back in uni, but it wasn’t until years later—during the quiet chaos of lockdown—that their story truly began. A random message. A gut feeling. And a love that quietly bloomed into something real. It’s the kind of slow-burn romance that makes you believe in timing and second chances.
When it came time to tie the knot, they skipped the fuss and leaned into what felt right. Lovely knew she wanted something heartfelt, somewhere that reflected their vibe. Their Kittyhawk wedding gave them just that—a space where they could move effortlessly from ceremony to celebration, all surrounded by the people who mean the most.
They kept it close—just good food, strong drinks, and a whole lot of love. There were no grand gestures, no over-the-top fanfare. Just a couple being unapologetically themselves, getting married in a place that felt like them.
Honestly? The whole day felt like a deep exhale. Easy, joyful, and full of meaning. And now they’ve got the photos to remember it all—candid, emotional, and true to who they are. Just the way it should be
Tell me about your The Beginning!
Our story began back in university—we were batchmates, just familiar faces in the crowd, never imagining what the future held for us. Years passed, and life took us in different directions. Then, during the quiet, uncertain days of the pandemic, he reached out to me out of nowhere. I usually ignored random messages, but something about his made me pause. I replied—and that one small reply changed everything. We began talking every day, slowly building a connection that felt so natural, so right. He shared his feelings for me, and though I hesitated and turned him down more than once, something in my heart began to change. Before I knew it, I had fallen for him too. And from that moment on, our love story truly began.
When and where did you get engaged?
We got engaged in April of last year, during a trip to the beautiful island of Boracay in the Philippines. He proposed in the quiet comfort of our hotel room, because he knew my heart—he knew I didn’t want a grand gesture or an audience. I had told him before that when the time came, I wanted it to be just the two of us. No spectacle, just a genuine moment. And he understood that perfectly. He asked me to marry him in the most heartfelt way, and it was everything I had ever hoped for.
Why did you choose to have an intimate Kittyhawk wedding?
A friend first recommended Kittyhawk to me, and as soon as I looked into it—the atmosphere, the setting, everything they offered—I instantly knew it was the one. It had the perfect charm and character for both our wedding and reception. It just felt right, like it was meant for us.
What are you most looking forward to on the day?
If you asked me what I’m most looking forward to on our big day, it’s simple—marrying my best friend and sharing the happiest day of our lives together. And of course, celebrating it all with an unforgettable party!
Top Tips!
My biggest advice to couples planning their wedding? Only invite the people who truly mean something to both of you. And choose an amazing photographer—like Hayley—because the photos are what you’ll hold onto forever. They’ll tell your love story long after the day is over.
