A Laid-Back, Love-Filled Seclusions Blue Mountains Wedding with Brooke & Blain
Brooke and Blain’s Seclusions Blue Mountains Wedding was one of those days where everything just clicked. The weather had been looking a little sketchy leading up to the day, but we ended up with an overcast afternoon that gave us some of the dreamiest, moodiest photos. Honestly, it couldn’t have worked out better.
Seclusions is one of those venues that sticks with you, and a huge part of that comes down to the owners, Russell and Malynda. I’ve worked here before, and once again, they were absolute legends. Malynda, in particular, is a behind-the-scenes powerhouse — from adjusting the room layout for better photos, to wrangling alpacas (yes, really), to keeping things perfectly on track. If you’re thinking about a Seclusions Blue Mountains Wedding, you can relax knowing you’re in extremely capable hands.
The vibe throughout the day was just so fun. From the wedding party to the guests, everyone brought the energy. It’s always a bonus when I get to work alongside vendors who make the day even more enjoyable — shoutout to Marry Me Natalie, Claudia from My Big Day Events, and Vale Acoustic for the good chats and great teamwork. You made the workday feel like a party.
Brooke and Blain chose to soak in their day fully, taking intentional pauses to be present with each other. And while there may not have been hundreds on the dance floor, the wedding party absolutely served. High kicks, slut drops, and top-tier moves — it was impossible not to smile behind the lens.
In the end, this Seclusions Blue Mountains Wedding was everything a wedding should be: relaxed, joyful, and bursting with personal touches. Brooke and Blain, thank you for the laughs, the good vibes, and letting me capture such an incredible chapter of your story.
Tell me about your The Beginning!
Blain and I met during my high school orientation for Year 11 and 12 in October 2015. I was 15, he was 16. I walked into the homeroom we’d be placed in the following year and immediately noticed him goofing around. He was throwing something at someone and being a typical 16-year-old boy, but for some reason I was intrigued.
On the third day our homeroom teacher had the class roll written on the board and that’s when I finally saw his name. At the end of the week I did the most romantic thing possible, I added him on Facebook. But the second I saw his profile picture I had a moment of doubt. It was that bad. Still, nothing had actually happened between us yet so I let it slide.
A couple of months later, on the 21st of Dec 2015, I decided to take matters into my own hands. After dating for a while but without an official title, I basically asked him, “So… are you going to ask me to be your girlfriend or what?”. Just like that, we were officially together. Our first date was at Blacktown Cinemas, where we watched The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2.
When and where did you get engaged?
In April of 2022, Blain convinced me that we were house sitting for his friends near Lithgow and going out for a nice dinner that evening, so I dressed up. As we got closer, I noticed Lake Lyell on the map and realised it was near Eagle View Escape, a spa cabin I had wanted to stay at for the longest time. Blain panicked, thinking I’d figure it out, so he had me put my jacket over my head. Once we arrived, he told me to wait in the car while he went inside.
When he came back to get me, we walked into the cutest little cabin with a trail of rose petals and candles leading to him at the end. On the bed, Marry me? was spelled out in rose petals. Not my finest moment, but I turned to him and asked, “Well, are you going to ask me?” (Some things never change, right?) After the initial shock wore off, and the Jack Daniel’s apple shot kicked in, I was completely speechless which is rare for me. I asked where our fancy dinner was, but Blain hadn’t actually planned one, so we ended up having KFC haha. The few days were perfect, and I wouldn’t change a thing.
Why did you choose to have a Seclusions Blue Mountains Wedding?
I had done extensive research on venues and wanted to know everything before making a decision. After visiting two venues in person, we instantly fell in love with Seclusions. It was the perfect blend of rustic charm and sophistication, and I remember we both looked at each other and knew right away that this was it. I also love the DIY aspect of the venue, as it allows me to have full control over the details, being a bit of a control freak, that’s exactly what I wanted!
What are you most looking forward to on the day?
Blain’s Response – Becoming Brookyn’s husband
My Response – Taking a quiet moment together to soak in the chaos of the day and appreciate everything we’ve built. All the planning, the years of teamwork, and the journey that led us here, to this moment of signing the marriage license and officially becoming husband and wife.
Top Tips!
Have fun and enjoy the ride. Planning a wedding has honestly been the most stressful thing I’ve ever done, but it’s also made me realize how lucky and grateful I am to have such an amazing partner by my side. Whether he’s agreeing with my ideas or just being a shoulder to cry on, his support has made all the difference.
At the end of the day, all the hard work will be worth it. You won’t look back and think about the time you spent stressing over the little things, you’ll just be grateful that you had the best day celebrating with your life partner, rain, hail, or shine. And if it does rain, embrace it! Rain makes for some of the most beautiful photos, so take it in stride and know that those moments will be even more special.
Lastly, don’t let other people’s opinions get to you. It’s your day, not theirs, plan it the way you want and focus on what makes you happy.
