Moody Light & Good Vibes: A Rainy Burnt Orange Wedding

Saskia & Lucas celebrated their wedding at Burnt Orange, a boutique venue housed in a historic sandstone mansion in Mosman. Sydney was serving up some wild weather that day, but their backup plan was honestly one of the best I’ve seen. The ceremony took place on the sandstone terrace beside the Signals Room—beautiful light, a warm and welcoming space, and an incredible floral setup by White House Flowers that completely transformed the area.

One of the standout moments from this wedding at Burnt Orange was ducking off to Georges Head Lookout for portraits, just a few minutes away. It’s one of my favourite photo spots in Sydney thanks to its sweeping harbour views. We lucked out with 30 rain-free minutes, and I cranked the tunes while Saskia & Lucas soaked up the moment. The energy, the overcast light, and the view came together perfectly—and it really shows in the photos.

 

Tell me about your The Beginning!

We first met in 2016. We were both working at Dominos Mona Vale as a part time job after school and uni. Lucas sent the first message on snapchat and then the rest is history!

When and where did you get engaged?

We got engaged on the 11th of July 2023 in Uluwatu. We were on holiday in Bali and Lucas told me we were going for a nice dinner. Upon arrival, we were taken to a private dining area which was decorated beautifully with flowers.

Why did you choose to have your wedding at Burnt Orange in Mosman?

We wanted a venue to have our ceremony and reception in one location. We wanted a naturally pretty venue with lots of greenery and a nice view.

What are you most looking forward to on the day?

Seeing Lucas’ face as I walk down the aisle and just being married!
